Massimo Bianchini

Massimo Bianchini is a Designer, has a Ph.D. in Design. Assistant professor at the Department of Design and lecturer at the School of Design, Politecnico di Milano. He’s the Lab Manager of Polifactory www.polifactory.polimi.it/) the new makerspace-fab lab of Politecnico di Milano. He has recently coordinated Next Design Innovation (www.nextdesigninnovation.it), a project developed by Regione Lombardia and Politecnico aims to stimulate the pre-incubation of young design talents and interactive product-service systems. He’s also part of the EU Factories of the Future funded project Close-to-Customer (https://web.ttsnetwork.net/CTC/pages/index.jsp). His current research and work interests are focused on design for digital fabrication, open design, independent design, self production and self-sufficiency, bureaucratized innovation, innovation in local productive systems, new production-distribution models, and advanced-distributed-micro manufacturing systems. He was member (2005-2010) of Sistema Design Italia Agencies Network (SDI) and he develops Design Research Maps, a National Research which studied Academic Design Research activities in Italy (2008-2010) that received the ADI’s (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale) XXII° Compasso D’Oro Prize for Design Research (2011).
