Giannino Malossi/ Co-Founder, Blumine
In 1977 Giannino, 23 years old philosophy student at Università Statale in Milan, started Fiorucci DXing, in house Center for Fashion Culture, rooting communication strategies for the Milanese fashion brand on deep multidisciplinary research to shape development and innovation. Fiorucci Dxing ended in curating exhibitions at the Milan Triennale (1979), the Venice Biennale (1980), Forum Design Linz, (1980). The same formula, under the logo “Fashion Engineering Unit”, was repeated for Pitti Immagine from 1985 to 2000, helping the Florence Fashion Fairs to grow global recognition. Exhibition and events where held, among others, at The Fashion Institute of Technology Museum (1997), Stazione Leopolda in Florence, the Art Directors Club of New York (2001). Italian Editor of The Manipulator Magazine (1984-1994) he published several books and catalogues in Italy and abroad, including, among others: This was tomorrow, Pop from style to revival (Electa, Milan 1990); The Style Engine: Spectacle, Identity, Design and Business. How the Fashion Industry Uses Style to Create Wealth (Monacelli Press, New York, 1998); Volare: The Icon of Italy in Global Pop Culture (Monacelli Press, New York, 1999); Material Man: Masculinity, Sexuality, Style (Abrams, New York, 2000). Director of Communication and Professor of Communication and Knowledge Sharing during the founding of Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in 2001. Since then Giannino is engaged in Digital Transformation, New Media and Digital Culture, including managing partnership with Interaction Design Lab Milano, and in Sustainability Lab by Blumine Srl, a consultancy firm. Adjunct Professor at Politecnico di Milano, Facoltà del Design (2002/2005). In 2017 he was part of WEARSUSTAIN CONSORTIUM, a €3М funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020,which engaged artists and designers to work more closely with technologists and engineers to shift the development of the wearables and e-textile landscape towards a more sustainable and ethical approach. Giannino Malossi is currently collaborating with STARTS, the Initiative of European Commission-DG Connect promoting convergence between Science, Art and Technology.
